Can I use Avant Guard with exfoliating products or other strong actives?
Important: Do not use Avant Guard over prescription treatments (ex: tretinoin), exfoliating products (ex: glycolic acid toner), or other actives that can be irritating on their own (ex: retinol). Avant Guard uses occlusion to aid in product absorption. Occlusion is a powerful force, and could lead to these actives irritating your skin for than normally if applied under Avant Guard. We suggest using these actives after your masking session!
Can I sleep in Avant Guard?
We recommend using Avant Guard for shorter term bursts of occlusion to help enhance product absorption and increase skin hydration. We don’t recommend you wear this mask for more than 8 hours though, some studies suggest that longer term occlusion (>8 hours) can disrupt your skin barrier, so this could be a case of “too much of a good thing.”Do your own experiments to see how long you like to wear Avant Guard for, you can try a nap if you’re curious!
136% increase in skin hydration after 30 minutes of using Avant Guard + Super Saturated
44% increase in skin hydration after 30 minutes of using Avant Guard + Super Saturated v. using Super Saturated alone

How Avant Guard Works
Occlusion is the secret ingredient. Occlusive ingredients, or materials, put a protective layer over the skin that keeps moisture from evaporating out of your skin (aka Transepidermal Water Loss) Avant Guard is a silicone occlusive that effectively stops transepidermal water loss for skin that’s more plump, hydrated, and happy after use.
Founded by chemists. Formulated in-house.
Skincare designed with intention— using clinically proven ingredients and unexpected textures to deliver barrier-first formulas that feel as good as they perform.

Alice from Alice in the RABBITHOLE on YT convinced me to try this reusable mask. I had purchased one from yesstyle nearly a decade ago and it was soooo tight and uncomfortable. I use and love your hydrating serum and the plasmawash, so I decided to give it a go. Sooooo great! Fits like a dream and really works to seal the deal against this cold Colorado air.
Hydration Down to a Science

I have been using the Avant Guard mask 2/3 times a week for roughly 90 days now. Functionally, it’s a sheet mask that corrects the issues plaguing its disposable cousins. 1. Structure! Avant Guard doesn’t sag and drag like disposable sheet masks do, firmly staying put so your base product can do its job without getting disturbed. 2. Comfort! The flexible ear loops fit snugly enough to keep the mask in place without digging into your skin. No more disposable sheet mask ear loop rippage, thank you! 3. Sustainability! The biggest sell, in my opinion. While standard sheet masks often leave significant amounts of product behind in their original packaging, no product waste occurs when using Avant Guard. By putting as much (or as little) product as you prefer directly onto your face, you completely avoid the icky feeling of throwing tons of product and non-recyclable packaging in the trash. My original mask actually ripped a couple months after purchase (user error, most likely- I was aggressive cleaning it), and the team at Experiment replaced it immediately, no questions asked. Their quick, friendly customer service is reason enough to give Avant Guard a shot. My combo/dry skin has never looked better. I am glassy, glowy, and never dry despite using tretinoin almost daily. Super Saturated and Avant Guard are a match made in heaven, but your favorite glycerin-based serum will do the trick if you’re just looking for a way to cut down on sheet masks. I’m obsessed enough to have bought a second mask in the larger size for my boyfriend- he’s loving it too and says it doesn’t irritate his facial hair like many standard, thinner face masks do. All in all, cheers to Experiment for getting the reusable sheet mask down to a science.
Hoping for an XS size, amazing product tho

Such a cool product! I love the sustainability aspect of it, and I love how much better my hydrating serums work when I use this. Only issue is the small size was still a bit too big for me, and my nose bridge is so low that the mask would never stay on that part. Any chances of an XS maybe?
